Tynna Rosero: ROTM
August 29th, 2011 | Rider of the Month

Let’s get some basics: full name, age, and where do you live?
Full name? Haha. You would laugh..it’s Ma. Cristina Rosero.
Age..old enough, 29.
I currently live in Pili, Camarines Sur. I could walk to the cable. But my real house is in Camaligan, Camarines Sur, just 20 mins drive away from CWC.
What’s your riding set-up right now?
DC shoes and LF Mod, first composite skate I’ve ever had. But I’m currently testing a wood skate from Aus.
You recently signed with DC right?
Yea, just months ago. It’s just DC Philippines by the way. They just started to tap into the wake industry and I got lucky to be one of their first riders.
CWC is known as one of the best cable parks in the world, tell me about it…
Hmm..I never been to a lot of cables yet. I’ve only been to cables in Asia. But from what I’ve heard from people who come over, they said CWC is one of the best. Almost perfect weather all year round, no winter breaks. The cheapest compared to other cable parks.
How did you get into wakeskating?
I was wakeboarding before, raleys got me into wakeskating. I got really hurt trying raleys, then wakeskated for fun. I’ve been hooked since then.
Strapper! Haha. How long have you been riding for?
You were once a strapper too! Haha. Been wakeskating for almost 3 years now.
What is the wakeskate scene like in the Philippines?
Getting big, not just the boys but also the girls. Wakeskating in Thailand is still ahead in Asia, but Philippines is catching up. Most are cable skaters though. We currently have 3 cable parks and 2 more are opening this year. We don’t have pure wakeskating events yet, but I’ll start one this year. WATCHOUT!!
I’ve seen a lot of photos of you on top of the podium with the boys, what’s the deal?
It’s fun hustling the boys. They were actually better than me, they just got intimidated and I always get lucky.
You got lucky a lot! Hah, I think its your skills. What are some of your best results & wakeskating highlights?
I’m always on the top podium but not when you came. Haha. Nothing beats the feeling when you win against the boys and standing in the podium with them. It feels so badass!
How do you think we can progress women’s wakeskating?
Wake camps/clinics, film and edit videos, work on having girls divisions in every contest as much as possible, get sponsored and convert wakeboarders. Haha.
And do you think its headed in the right direction?
Yes, I’m taking charge in the Philippines and Asia. This year, I was able to work on having a womens wakeskate division in the Asian Wale Park Tour.
You’ve got a pretty rad group of girls that wakeskate in the Philippines, tell me about your crew…
It’s me and my buddy Susan who wakeskates more. Besides being wakeskate buddies. We all work together to promote the sports. One acts as our manager, one doing all the papers, one does the media and one doing the promotion and marketing. We’re a complete family, what more could ask for? Haha.

Do you have any advice for girls that are getting into wakeskating?
You gotta love your wakeskate kit more than your make up kit.
What gets you pumped to ride?
Wakeskate videos and music and riding with someone who wakeskates like a monster.
What is your favorite obstacle at CWC and why?
Cbox, it gives my shove on a good pop. Incline was my favorite but they replaced it with a huge rainbow. Lame!
You seem to be able to shuv onto anything! Do you have any tips?
Watch your skate then catch it with your feet. You’ll prolly master running onto the rails first or sliding on your feet and butt. It’s normal.
What tricks are you working on right now?
Sw fs big off the left kicker, landed it 3x already. Weee!!
Do you have any trips planned for this year?
Singapore for the Asian Tour, Thailand for the King of Kicker and maybe Australia or US if everything goes according to plan.
Goals for 2011?
Make more wake events, build our wake school and TYN, travel more
What do you do when you’re not on the water?
On my laptop..working, facebooking, watching videos..hanging out with people I love.
Worst riding-related injury? Split, couldn’t ride for a month
Biggest fear? Serious injury
Favorite Trick: BS 180
Trick you despise? Big rails are stupid.
Favorite Wakeskaters: Freddie Grove
Fins or no Fins? NOOOO!!!
If you found an asteroid and could name it, what would it be?
Hakuna matata
The road splits, do you go left or right?
I let the coin decide for me.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
Haha. I am already.
Tell me about TYN !
TYN is a wake brand that I am currently developing, designing and working on. I already have some few shirts that is already available, and I am planning to expand it more by designing other wake products. IT’S HOT, SIP IT SLOWLY!
Shout-outs?
TYN, Oakley, Reef, DC and all my real friends.
