July 22nd, 2010 | Rider of the Month

Hi Nicola, how are you?

Great!

Lets get some questions out of the way… How old are you now?

I just turned 18 last month!

What is the place that you call HOME?!

Home would probably be Orlando now.

How did you first get into wakeboarding?

I grew up surfing in South Africa and when i moved to England i was introduced to my first cable and I just loved it right from the start.

Who would you say influences your riding the most?

Whoever I am riding with at the time influences my riding. I like riding with Amber Wing a lot because we push each other to try new things and its fun.

What is your most recent new trick?

Crowmobe and handlepass KGB

What are your top five songs on your iPod these days?

Hey Boy- The Blow, Pursuit of Happiness- Kid Cudi, Sleepyhead-Passion Pit,  Coin Laundry- Lisa Mitchell, Alive- Kid Cudi

If you could pick a song for your own video part in a wake movie what would it be?

Animal- Mike Snow

Great song!!! Do you prefer riding boat or cable?

I prefer riding boat but its fun to mix it up on the cable.

Can you tell us about your new pro model “Wild Child” board?

My new board is awesome. It has flex in the tip and tail, which is ideal for rails, but it has channels throughout the middle making it sturdy on the wake.

What sets Company Wakeboards apart from the rest of the pack?

I think the vibe at Company is different to any other team I have been apart of. It is a relatively small team and working with Justin Stephens is so easy.

How has your competitive season been going so far?

Pretty good so far, I took 2nd and Wakegames and 1st at Masters and won Nationals.

What are some of your goals for this season?

Just to do my best as far as competing goes and to learn a bunch of new tricks.

How did you get so good at passing handles upsidedown… haha…Do you do a lot of trampoline training?

Haha after the first couple it becomes simple.. I actually haven’t jumped on a trampoline in months!

Can you tell us a little bit about the TID clinic you are coaching up in Canada this summer?

I will be coming up to Canada the week after Wakestock to do a little coaching in Bobcaygeon at the Wake Institute. If you are interested you can speak to Ally (ally@throwitdown.com) I am excited as this is actually my first time in Canada!

Who is hooking you up these days?

Mastercraft, Company, Oakley, Osiris and OWC

Do you have anyone you want to thank?

All the sponsors, my family and everyone that hangs out and encourages me to push my riding.
